Quicken Conversion Tool 2018
Hi @aah, Welcome to the Community.
Here are the basic steps to move your Quicken files from Windows to Mac.
First, on the Windows side in Quicken, choose 'File' and 'Save a Backup' and choose a location where you want to save the backup file. You can save it on your Windows desktop, external device like a thumb drive, or if you have Dropbox, you can save it there. For the current situation, we will save this to the Windows Desktop folder.
Once that is done, you can copy the QDF file, which will be the file extension of the backup file, to a thumb drive or Dropbox, and then go over to the Mac.
With the Mac, make sure that you plug in your USB drive to the Mac and it should show a name like 'NO NAME' or the name of the thumb drive with a silver drive extension.
Once this is done, open up Quicken for Mac 2018 Premier, click on Get Started and login with your Quicken ID. Once this is done, it will either ask if you are importing from another version of Quicken, or it will bring up options to Get Started with 7 different options, including Start from a Windows file.
Click on 'Start from a Windows File' and click on Next, and then it will ask for a File to Import, click on that button and then on the left side of the Mac, there will be Favorites and then Devices and your thumb drive under Devices. Click on your thumb drive and choose the QDF file, and then click Open.
Finally, click on Next and the import will begin from the Windows File. You might have to download a Windows Import Utility, but this is automatic and then it will begin merging the data from your Windows QDF file onto the Mac. This process might take a few minutes, but once it is completed, all the data, including your investments, will be imported into the Mac version of Quicken.
Hope this helps, please reply if you have any questions.
Harold.
